Abstract
The study comprises five chapters : Chapter One includes the introduction and the significance of the study : The psychological aspect and the methods of Psychological preparation are handled. This is so because of their important role in preparing the players to accept the training loads and entering the exciting motor competitions in sport games. Mental toughness is one of the important Psychological manifestations , which helps the sportsmen in the different sport games , for both single and group games and for both sexes . Mental toughness shows the manifestations of the personality , the style that characterizes it in dealing with the reality and its comprehension, its psychological and life experiences which reflect the awareness of the newly happened situations from time to time . Some may think that there is a difference between a game and another whether single or group, in the need of the mental toughness . Unlike , all the sportsmen need the power of psychological endurance to face the difficulties and the high psychological pressures that face the player without affecting him physically nor psychologically. Thus, the importance of the study is the clarifying quality of the mental toughness for all the sportsmen. This is so to help them endure all the difficult circumstances and reaching a new meaning in the players life despite depression and depression , which may face him because of the pressures and disorders while training or during the sport competition .
While the problem of the study : the researcher finds out that there are some psychological manifestations that affect the players performance, whether in single or group games. One of those manifestations is mental

toughness which must be shown by the players to face and challenge all the pressures they face while training or during the sport competition .
But there are many evidences when the player is depressed and decreasing in the performance because of inability to endure the loads and failing to face the situations. Having not comprehending these effects , especially the negative ones for the sportsmen , is to be considered as a real and big problem whether in single or group games. This is so because of the low experience , the doctrines , thoughts and beliefs which appear when the player deals with his environment.
While the assumptions of study include : there are statically meaningful differences between the players of the single game and the players of group games.
The aims of the study are :
1. Measuring the mental toughness for the players of the single and group games in the college of physical education in the University of Diyala.
2. Comparing the level of the mental toughness between some games of the single games ( gym and track and field ).
3. Comparing the level of the mental toughness between some games of the group games ( volleyball and basketball ).
While the domains of the study :
1. Human Domain : A sample of players of the current single and group games in the college of physical education in the University of Diyala for the academic year 2012-2013.
2. Time Domain: from 25-2-2013 until 5-6-2013
3. Place Domain: The studying halls of in the college of physical education and the department of sport in the college of physical education in the University of Diyala
Chapter Two : includes the following aspects (concept, theories and applications of the mental toughness and mental toughness compared with sport performance) This chapter also includes one previous study
Chapter Three : highlights the method and the field procedures of the study. The researcher uses the descriptive method with comparative scanning style for their suitability with the nature of the study . (152) students from the 3rd and the 4th stages are chosen as a sample .
