Abstract
The oil industry is one of the essential economic activities in economic construction of the oil country, because it is based on petroleum raw materials, which constitutes the backbone of life. Therefore, it was important to know the importance of this sector for the Iraqi economy and how work to develop it and working to raise the possibilities of Iraqi oil production and export it, and this sector have been suffered disruptions and significant distortions due to what Iraqi economy exposure during periods of different time which I'm shown them in my thesis by stages according to the economic conditions experienced by the country, which were four stages extended from (1970-1979), (1980-1989), (1990-2002) and (2003-2010), In addition to the internal and external challenges which the sector suffered from them. And the political and security element is most challenges affecting on the weakness of investment in the oil sector and its development, Also the study focused on knowledge of the investment concept and importance of foreign investment in the Iraqi economy, and so in my thesis focused on a collection questions. Is the foreign direct investment has role in development of the oil sector? and this role is positive or negative?, does Iraq need foreign investment to develop its oil sector or its own capabilities are able to develop its oil sector?, however the research hypothesis have shown clearly that the foreign investment (form of service contracts) has role in the development of the Iraqi oil sector as result availability of the suitable modern financial, human resources and technological Possibilities, which the national Personnel can't be able to do this development because of technological deficiency is required for the development process.
As regards the conclusions that we have concluded them are the oil sector hold a important position in the Iraqi economy in terms of the magnitude of the oil reserves which they estimate with more than (115) billion barrels, as well as (214) billion barrels are uncertain.
As for the main recommendations of the study, we have concluded to do a thorough study of all the oil fields in order to stand on all the problems which face those fields and lead to lower production. |
