| Abstract | ||
| The research deals with the problem of the Sign and discusses the ideas of Greek philosophy, Scholasticism of the Middle Ages, and Modern Philosophy. Before discussing the main issue , the research deals with the problems concerns the publishing of de Saussures book “ Lectures in General Linguistics” which wasn’t published when he was alive, but after his death , on the basis of the notes by two of his students. The research then discusses in detail issues that were so controversial and that caused many discussions in modern linguistics. The first of them deals with the relation between the signifier and the signified. The second is about the arbitrariness of the sign. And the third is about linear nature of the signifier. | ||
