A survey of Urinary Tract Infections in Baghdad | ||

| Abstract | ||
| This research was conducted to detect the urinary tract infections (UTIs ) from patients in consultant of urinary tracts in Al-Khadimiya Teaching Hospitalو Baghdad. A total of (544) specimens with positive urinary tract infections were collected from (1512) patients in consultant of UT during 12 months through a period commencing from January 2010 to December 2010. The results of microscopic examinations showed that UTIs were more frequent in female than male patients. The number of male patients were (176) ( 32.35 % ) , while female patients were ( 368 ) (67.65%) . The results revealed that the highest percentage of UTIs ( 60.66% ) was recorded in adult patients ( 26 – 45 ) years . Moreover, the results showed that sexual activity of women play an essential role in UTI with a percentage of (43.38 %) compared to other factors. Concerning the relation between the seasons and infection, it was found that UTIs recorded different rates during the seasons and the highest percentage ( 34.56 % ) was recorded in spring while the other seasons recorded lower infections . | ||
