Abstract
This study include two variations, first is the extent understanding of the first class, intermedate school to mathimatics. The second is the difference of understanding extent due to sex, The researchers depended on mathematics analysis for the above mentioned stage and obtaining the essential and the secondary concepts and using them in a list include 18 concepts, these results were evaluated by a group of experts and the method of teaching them. Then, they (researchers) prepared a test include 18 points, these points depend upon that test was also evaluated by ateam of experts and specialists of mathematics and was modified due to their view points. This test was applied to a sample of pupils consists of (347 male pupils and 148 girl pupils) disteributed on different primary and secondary schools in Basrah. Results were statistically treated by using the percent (%) in order to know the rande of the students understanding to each concept, It was as follow (46 % male, 65 % female). Variation of marks was also studied; thw male marks was 56.5% and female was 67.6%, The researchers concluded the following:The concept formed that uniting and substitutions, Decarts obtaining and the ending groups; equll groups as well as portion giagram is the least concepts to comperhension. Also, the Female are more copable than male for understanding concepts of groups and relations. Finally the two researchers gave some suggestion that can help to increase the rate of understanding to the pupils.
