ABCTRACT
An experiment was conducted during summer season of 2011and 2012, in the experimental farm, Department of Field Crops, College of Agriculture - University of Baghdad- Abu-Ghraib on cogongrass infested area for many years, according to the randomized complete block design (RCBD) with three replicates, to investigate the effect of magnetized spray solutions of Fluazifop-butyl for improvement of control reducing herbicides rates. The study included two factors, the first with four levels of magnetized spray solutions [0 (normal water), 500, 1000, 2000 Gs.], and the second factor included four levels of Fluazifop-butyl 12.5% [0, 50%, 75%, 100%] of the recommended rate (2L.ha-1). The results showed that 100% of recommended herbicides rate achieved highest injury score with magnetized spray solution of 500,1000 and 2000 Gs gave 4.63,4.8 ,4.87 respectively in 2011 and 4.33 ,4.33, 4.67 in 2012 as compared with normal water spray solution which gave 3.93,4.00 for both seasons respectively and gave similar effect of magnetization of spray solution of 1000 and 2000 Gs. with 75% of recommended herbicides rate 3.50 ,3.67 in 2011 and 3.67 for magnetized spray solution of 2000 Gs. in 2012. Magnetization of spray solution also reduced shoots no. with magnetized spray solution of 2000 Gs. with 100% of recommended herbicide rate gave14.70 shoot.0.25-2 for both season, While 75 % of the recommended herbicide rate with the same intensity gave 18.77 and 17.41 for both seasons respectively as compared with normal water spray solution which gave the highest shoots no. 30.70 and 30.21 shoot.0.25-2 with 75 % of the recommended herbicide rate and 23.67 and 19.08 shoot.0.25-2 with 100% of the recommended herbicide rate. Similarity lowest no. of rhizomes were recorded with magnetization of the spray solution of 2000 Gs. with 100% of recommended herbicide rate which gave 11.92 and 13.81 rhizom.0.25-2 for both seasons respectively despite did not differ significantly from normal water spray solution with 100% of the recommended herbicide rate which gave 15.75 and 14.56 rhizom.0.25-2 for both seasons respectively and worth noting that magnetized spray solution of 1000 and 2000 Gs. with 75 % of recommended herbicides rate gave 13.01 and 14.03 rhizom.0.25-2 respectively as compared to the same rate as added with normal water spray solution which gave 27.29 rhizom.0.25-2 in 2011. Also lowest percentage of rhizome bud viability was obtained with spray solution of 2000 Gs. with 75% and 100 % of the recommended herbicide rate, which gave 18.33% and 8.33% respectively as compared with normal water spray solution which gave 35.33 % and 11.33% respectively in 2011. Similarity lowest percentage of rhizome bud viability recorded 17.67% and 6.67 % respectively as compared with normal water spray solution which gave 34.33 % and 9.33 % respectively in 2012. From the present study conclusion in could be draw that there was possibility of improving the efficiency of lower rates of Fluazifop-butyl for cogongrass control, 75% of the recommended rate herbicide with magnetization of the spray solution of 1000 and 2000 Gs. gave similar effect of 100 % of the recommended herbicide rate when added with normal water spray solution and contributed highest effect on most of characters studies and this indicted that magnetization of spray solutions may led to increase efficiency of lower herbicide rates equal to higher rates with normal water spray solution. |
