Abstract
The economic reforms proposed by the IMF and the World Bank, did not achieve prosperity and social welfare in countries that applied them , but they contributed in dismantling the economic structures and increased unemployment and poverty. The Decreasing public development spending in the eighties, after the debt crisis , had a Negative impact on infrastructure. while the developing countries are no longer able to create enough jobs to absorb the incresceing number of workforce, while addressing the deepening unemployment crisis and poverty requires levels of investment cannot be provided by these countries. This study attempts to identify those problems in Jordan trying to figure out the impact of those policies Followed by Jordan on the current account as a representative of the balance of payments because it represents the most important account in which to express external balance, this state has been selected to present Jordan's experience in economic reform and its impact on the conditions of the external balance accordingto: • The fact that Jordan is a non-oil country. • Jordan Suffered from increasing in external debt and debt service. • Jordan adopted the economic reforms policy according to WB, IMF programes • The sensitivity of the Jordanian economy to external changes depending on the capacity of its openness. The search Hypothesis includes the following: Although the Jordan adopted the reform and structural adjustment policy suggested by International institutions (WB, IMF), but it could not deal with economic imbalances and thus the external indebtedness is continued, which reflected negatively on the increase in the current account deficit, the search term Includes duration period (1990 -2010) which means the period of the economic reform policies in Jordan. The search consists of an introduction and three chapters as well as the conclusions and recommendations. The first chapter discusses the theoretical framework of economic reform, while the second chapter is devoted to the study of the reality of the Jordanian economy and the main features of the economic reform program adopted while the third chapter deals with measurement and analysis the economic effects of economic reform policies on the current account in the Jordanian economy .The research found that the economic reform policies led to the increase of the current account deficit as a result of the need to increase investment to finance the development process in light of the weakness of the local productivity.
