| Abstract | ||
| The present study was conducted to determine the cytotoxic activity of Aeromonas hydrophila clinical isolates which collected from patients of diarrheic stool samples were sending to central public health laboratory to Re-confirmation. All of the three isolates of A. hydrophila were demonstrated β -haemlolysis pattern on blood agar, and one of them was protease production and has different susceptibility to antibiotics; It was more sensitive against ceftazidime and then ceftriaxone, ciprofloxacin, and co-trimoxazole; while resistant to amoxicillin-clavulanic acid, aztreonam and imipenem ; the proteolytic and haemolytic activity the of this isolate was shown effect on different mammalian cells (RD and L20B),Cell shrinkage, detachment , rounding cells and death most treated cells with heated (at 100°C for 60 min) and non-heated supernatant were recorded as cytotoxic changes. No correlation observed between proteolytic activity and cytotoxicity irrespective of haemolytic activity of this strain. These results demonstrated the pathogenically characterized, cytotoxic of A. hydrophila isolate. | ||
