| The historical roots of the name Baghdad through ancient sites A. M. D. Salah Rashid Al-Salihi Center revival of Arab Scientific Heritage University of Baghdad It’s good to study the historical sites because they determine the reason why Abu Jaafar Al-Mansour choose Baghdad the timeless Capital ,So it’s easy for us to reconnect the past and the present regarding to the city, and must understand how its important the geographic site selection, which is determined by ancient rivers, which were the basis on which the city was constructed in the various roles of historical and this is natural because the movement of construction depend mainly on rivers When creating a city must be accompanied by a water project for people need to irrigate orchards and drinking water or a good way for transporting as it is in the Tigris river , which was adopted as a basis in determining the location of the city, Then he build its direction along with rivers directions including Isa(Jesses)River which gives water to the west of Baghdad area. The old idea was about the name of Baghdad which is originally persian (Baghdad or Bgdaz the, Bgmad or Mgdad or Mgdan and Mgdad and Bgdan), which means orchard man because the word (Bagh) means orchard and (Dad) name of a man, and sometimes said (Bgh) the name of the fetish and Kisra dedicated to Khas from Orient a piece of land even though Khasay was a fetish worshiped , he said (BghDadi) it means he gave me the fetish whileHamzaIbn Hassan Asbhana he had another opinion that (Baghdad is a Persian name translated from (BaghDadhua) because the city of Al-Mansour was “Bagh” for a Persian man named Dadhua, and YaqootAlHamoodi said that Baghdad’s name was originally taken from a Chinese king’s name (and the name of the king of China was Bgh) Chinese traders when they were heading back home holding their big incomes from Baghdad’s market they used to say it’s from (Bgh dad) which means the incomes that we eared was a gift from our king.. HamdallahAlMustawfi in his book (hearts picnic). | ||
