| Abstract | ||
| Two field experiments were conducted during the fall season of 2010 and 2011 in field of the Al-deer location(50 km north of Basrah) to study the effect of spraying three levels of Fe(0,50,100) ppm as FeSO4.7H2O (20% Fe) on growth and yield of three varieties of sorghum (Sorghum bicolor L)(Kafer , Engath and Rabih). A Factorial (3x3) experiment was Implemented according to randomized complete block design (RCBD) with three replicates in silty clay soil with 6.28 ds/m salinity. The results showed a difference in varieties in the yield and yield components .The variety kafeer gave the heights plant yield (34.24 and 27.67 g/plant) and heights yield (1842 and 1503 kg/ha)in the two seasons respectively. the spray of Fe affect most of characters, showed significant increased by 16% and 28% during the growing seasons in 1000 seed weight for both seasons and a significant increase of 12% in number of seeds / plant during the first growing season. the percentage increments were 23and 25% for seed yield during the growing seasons by spraying 100 ppm Fe.interaction between variety and Fe spraying gave significant effect on plant seeds yield and the seed yield(kg / ha). | ||
