| Abstract | ||
| Evidence is presented that immune response to thyroxine – succinylated bovine serum albumin is under idiotype – anti – idiotype immunoregulation. Secondary immunization of Balb/c mice with the conjugate via foot pad, resulted in the appearance of anti – (anti -T4 antibodies). The magnitude of this phenomenon can be assessed by an enzyme linked immunosorbent assay using a solid phase antigen and a hapten treated immune sera. In addition immunization of mice intraperitoneally did not result in anti – idiotype antibodies appearance. A correlation was observed between the mean titers of anti – T4 – antibodies, as affected by the route of immunization, and the presence or absence of anti – idiotype antibodies. The phenomenon could be replicated using hybridoma secreting monoclonal anti – thyroxine antibody injected into Balb/c mice | ||
