| Abstract | ||
| Sialic acid and its fractions as well as the total protein were measured in malignant tissues belonged to 15 patients with lymphoma and in benign tissues of 20 patients with benign tumors. Total tissue protein in malignant tissues is increased by 46.5% of the benign tissue. Total Sialic acid and its fractions free and bound form as well as the lipid associated sialic acid were significantly (p < 0.001) higher in malignant tissues compared with benign tissues. We conclude that the levels of sialic acid and its fractions in malignant lymphoma are higher than those in benign tumor and further study is required to explore the binding of sialic acid to the specific domain site of protein. | ||
