| Abstract | ||
| The present study amis at measurement of irrational thoughts and social phobia among university students (the sample) through testing of the following null hypotheses: 1- There is no statistical difference at (0.05) level between the mean of the total degrees of the sample and the hypothetical mean of the irrational and social phobia scale. 2- There is no statistical difference at (0.05) level between the mean of the males degrees and the mean of the females ones in irrational thoughts and social phobia scale. 3- There is no statistical difference at (0.05) level between the mean of the 4th grade students degrees and the mean of the 1st grade students degrees in irrational thoughts and social phobia scale. 4- Identification of the correlation between in irrational thoughts degrees and social phobia ones among the university students (the sample) . The sample consist of (538) male and female students of (8) colleges in Baghdad university who chosen through random stage method. The two researchers adopted (Ellis,1973) scale of irrational thoughts consisting of (11) irrational ides where (Al rayhani,1981) had been revised it according to Arab environment and added it two irrational ideas to become (13) irrational ones . The two researchers identifying the two scales validity analyzing the items to extract the discriminative power and the validity of the items , calculating the validity of the two scales by (Alpha chronphk) method to measure the irrational thoughts and (kudar- Richardson 20) to measure the social phobia , and some of statistical processes to answer the aims and hypotheses of the study such as Pearson correlation coefficient and T-test of one sample and two samples had been used. The results of this study are : 1- The sample have irrational thoughts and social phobia and there are differences in irrational thoughts according to gender for the males. 2- As for the social phobia , there are differences according to gender for the males and , there are differences according to study grade for the 1st grade. 3- There is positive relation between irrational thoughts and social phobia where the value of correlation coefficient is (0.27). | ||
