| Abstract | ||
| On the 6th of January 1993, a heavy rain event occurred over most parts of Iraq. The aim of paper is to analyze the synoptic situation of this rain storm to determine its main cause. Surface, 500 mb and 700 mb weather charts along with radiosonde upper air data were analyzed for the day of the event and the day before and the day after. Results of analysis showed the main cause of the heavy rain events were the Sudanese and the Mediterranean low pressure systems. The results also indicted that area of the heavy rainfall was nearly underneath the position of the sub-tropical jet stream. | ||
