Abstract
Lighting effects are the visual representation of ideas and emotions in dramatic work. The first thing that the director of photography thinks of is to choose lighting effects for the dramatic work in general, and for the scene specifically in the way that can be expressive. The director of photography give himself an opportunity for executing the scenes that derived from reality through his understanding of the language of light and shadow and his knowledge of the skill he practices with. This background comes from his dealing with the language of light and shadow as a visual language that mixes the audience’s feeling & emotions instinct. When the visual composition reaches its highest level of creativity and vitality, the language of light and shadow will be the most effective factor. Image is considered as cognitive conscious unit that is controlled by various significances that depend on the elements of constructive image, its space and its flexibility in using expressive ability besides the ability of the audience’s conceptions. According to what has been discussed, the practical model has been used to explain this language through different scenes that are taken from T.V. series “Hoodo’a Nisby” or “Relative Silence”, written by “ Khalid Khalifa”, directed by “Shawqi Al-Magri”, acted by collective group of Arab actors
