Abstract
The current research aims to reveal the correlation between psychological underestimation and self-regard among university students، according to some demographic variables. A tool was adopted to measure self-regard (Betz & et al، 1995) consisting of (20) items with five alternatives ranging from (strongly agree to totally disagree). To ensure the validity of the two tools، the researchers calculated the apparent validity and the content validity according to the method of the two extreme groups، the paragraph correlation coefficient on the total scale، and the stability using the Cronbach method for internal consistency، as the stability of the first tool reached (0.77) and the stability of the second tool (0.81)، after which the two tools were applied to A sample of (250) male and female university students (128) of whom were males and (122) females. The results showed that university students practice psychological underestimation in their daily interactions and that they have a high positive regard. The differences were in a psychological underestimation in favour of males and in self-regard in favour of females. The researchers recommended the necessity of directing civil society organizations to provide aid، support، and underestimation to people who suffer from failure and loss، and suggested conducting a study of research variables and different social segments.
