| Abstract | ||
| Four fish species i.e. fresh water mullet Liza abu, grass carp Ctenopharyngodon idella, common carp Cyprinus carpio and yellowtail bream Acanthopagrus latus were subgected to electrical current type AC. The effective voltage for the four species ranged between 20-480V, while lethal voltage was 140-500V. the yellowtail bream need less time and voltage compared to the rest species followed by mullet, grass carp where the last two showed no significant difference while common carp recorded the highest values for both effective and lethal voltages. Significant correlation coefficient (r = 0.49) were found between effective voltage and time, also regrrsion coefficient were determined for the four species. The chemical composition before and after exposure to lethal voltage showed that fat and protein decrease in mullet and bream respectively. The present study rivaled the possibility of use electrical current for anesthetic fishes. | ||
