| Abstract | ||
| The present study aimed to identify the correlation between Self-Discrepancies and social anxiety and depression among a sample of students from the University of Damascus, in addition to knowledge of the differences between males and females and field of study (literary, scientific). The sample consisted of (230) students from students of the College of Education and Science by (94) males, (136) females. The tools that were used were: selves -Discrepancies questionnaire ( Higgins), and scale of social anxiety by the researcher, a measure of depression. The researcher has to verify validity and reliability of the tools on the exploratory sample similar to the core sample Results: The results showed that there is a correlation function between the actual ,ought self discrepancy and social anxiety, and the existence of a relationship between actual - ideal self discrepancy, and depression. The results also indicate that females more Discrepancies in most dimensions of Self-Discrepancies questionnaire, and that differences between students of the College of Education and Science have been mixed. The researcher presented a series of recommendations and proposals to ensure the credibility of the theory on different samples from members of the community | ||
